Need Internet...

I am sitting in apartment 902's living room because i have to 'borrow' some internet connection...the question goes to WHY??
The answer:
You see...in Australia...you have to actually buy your internet quota...of course they have unlimited quota but it is expensive...i would have paid approximately RM300 per month for the unlimited excess of internet...but NO...because i wanna save some cash...and i am the only one using the internet...the minimum internet quota they have is 3GB with AUD 49.95.
Why didn't i get more quota you say?
It is because the next option is 20GB which cost AUD79.95...what the hell do i do with 20GB?? As so the smartest choice is to go with the 3GB option.
Ok now...the main story of this blog...
When Regan first arrived...i told him that he shouldn't watch any youtube or download any songs or videos from the net...because of the reason above...
BUT he thought i was kidding...
A few days back i couldn't connect to the net anymore...because obviously the usage have exceeded the quota a big thanks to Regan...sneaky Regan watched youtube when i am not around...........=)
Me: Did you watch anything on youtube?
Him: Yes
Me: Why? I thought i told you not to watch adi ma...
Him: Huh? You not kidding meh? I thought you bluff me one...Malaysia no like that also...
=.="
Dear ar dear...i no bluff you ehh...really cannot use maaaaaaaaaaa...........
Well...that was that...Regan flu back to Malaysia yesterday because of some emergency...leaving me alone here...
The house is so quite now without his voice...so empty...can't wait to go back to see him again...=)

Catching up!...

It has been awhile since I last blogged…sorry about that…I was too lazy…=p
Well…first agenda…Regan is finally here!! I’ve been waiting for this moment for eight months!!
BUT…something funny happened the day I went to the air port to pick him up…
I GOT MISTAKEN WITH THE TIME! He told me he will be arriving at 6.15am …instead I heard 6.50am. As so….he came out from the air port at 7am...guess where I was…

STILL SLEEPING!!!!! =)
I was still happily preparing myself at home when my cellphone rang...It was he who was on the other line...with a pist off voice he asked where was I…I thought to myself..."SEI FOH"!!! By the time I reached the air port…his face had turned something like that...

“Soli la ya boss…I got mistaken with the time …= (“

Lucky me…he didn’t stay ‘black’ for long…he smiled after…say…3 seconds of staring at me with his huge angry eyes? Wahaha….well you know it’s normal for me to get away with this kind of stuff as I’m so irresistibly cute! LOL! That’s a joke by the way…

Okay…second agenda…let me see…I don’t think there’s a second one…there’s not much going on lately…nothing special…though I was like spending my holiday for the past week because I haven’t done anything since he arrived…I was busy watching TV…DVDs…TV…DVDs……………….

Lame I know…but besides that there’s nothing much to do…seriously!
Well…another 1 day to go…I don’t know why I don’t have any of the birthday mood…I think It has got to do with the fact that birthdays are no fun at all when it gets to this phase…you know…the getting older part…

I just wanna stay 18 forever…
I have a thought…people say you are a full grown adult when u turn 18; while you’ll have your golden freedom key when you turn 21…that is you can do whatever you want…do you think our parents will agree with that?

I seriously doubt it…I am 99% sure my parents will still call at 10pm to remind me of the danger of going out late every time I go out…and my curfew will still be latest 12am? LOL…
21 and 18 birthdays don’t really make much difference huh…I mean freedom wise…aside from the fact that you are 3 years older! O.M.G.

Well…birthday is coming up…like it or not…will update more on it…depends on whether I get any surprises or not…wahaha….

Until then…T.T.F.N…Tata for now…=)

By the way...the pictures were taken on the day trip i had during holidays...;)

What i miss most!!

I went to a talk titled "Working Opportunities in Asia"...
They had speakers from China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia of course...
They are trying to convince students studying here to go back to their country or foreign students to work in their country they represent...
They held the talk separately in different rooms...and it was the choice of students to choose which of the talk interest them...
As so i decided to go for the Malaysia one...
The speaker was like I WILL GIVE YOU 20 REASONS TO WORK IN MALAYSIA!
and he was like steady growth, expanding industries bla bla bla...
We were not convinced at all!
My brain was like half way to Alaska when he reached to his 18th point...
Finally...his 19th point...
"SHOP WHATEVER YOU WANT ANYTIME ANYWHERE!"
OMG...
20th point...
"EAT WHATEVER YOU WANT ANYTIME ANYWHERE!"
OMG OMG!!!!!
I don't know about you, but i am definitely convinced!

My Presentation!

Hi guys, you still remember the public speaking I told you about couple of weeks ago?

Well, guess what, I HAD MY PRESENTATION YESTERDAY!!

For those who don't know, the public speaking was for my English course, I was required to prepare a talk of approximately 5 to 7 minutes in length on a subject of my choice. The talk evaluation criteria included things like did I run over time, did I talk in a logical and ordered sequence, or did I maintain eye contact and etc.

I’ll let you guys know how I did on the presentation when I get my results…

So, here is my presentation! Hohoho…don’t laugh at my topic please!

Pictures are my power points and the paragraphs are my speech...

The word batik is an Indonesian- Malay word for dot or point, "titik" .

It is a generic term which refers to the process of dyeing fabric by making use of a resist technique; covering areas of cloth with a dye-resistant substance to prevent them absorbing colours.

Although the exact origins of batik are unknown, it is most common on the island of Java, Indonesia.

It is known when the art of batik was first practiced in Java, batik belonged only to royalty and families of wealth and position. It was a hobby for the royal women.

Aristocrats and royalty had certain designs identifying a family, social status or geographical location on the island.

Many of these designs have survived to this day.

Currently, batik art has spread to India, China, Malaysia, Europe and Africa.
It has become a skill and art of many great cultures.
Today it is believed that certain patterns have special meanings and are thought to bring the wearer good luck, wealth, prosperity, health, etc.

There are two main types of batik in Malaysia today; hand-painted and block printed.

The painter uses the canting, a small copper container with one or more differently sized pipes. The container is attached to a handle made of wood or bamboo.

The canting is filled with molten wax and used to trace the outlines of the pattern on the fabric.

The prepared and measured-out fabric is stretched over a metal or wooden frame.
The pattern is traced with a soft pencil.

The canting is filled 2/3 with liquid wax, and the utensil is held at an angle against the cloth.
The artist has to be extremely precise and careful to obtain a smooth flow of wax.
The utensil will have to be dipped frequently into the wax pot to keep the optimal temperature.
If the wax is too hot it will penetrate the fibres too deeply, and is difficult to remove.
If it is too cold it will not fasten properly.

When the waxing is finished on one side of the fabric, it is left to dry.
If the wax has not penetrated the fabric properly the operation is repeated on the other side.

The next step is painting the parts of the fabric that are not covered in wax.
The painter uses brushes of different sizes, and larger areas may be coloured with a sponge.
The shade can be varied by adding water or more colour.
The colour has to dry before fixing.

Finally the wax is removed in hot water, and the fabric is rinsed several times in order to remove excess dye and residues of wax,

Printing is done by means of a metal block made by welding together strips of metal.

In former times emptied tin cans were utilised.

The measured-out cloth is put on a padded table.
The printer has the wax pot at his side.
The block is dipped into the pot to be filled with wax, and then it is pressed against the cloth.

The process is repeated until the entire cloth has been filled with wax patterns.
The printer can change between different blocks as needed for the design.

When the waxing is finished the cloth is soaked in dye.
The colour fastens to the areas that have not been waxed.
From now on the original white colour will only be visible when the wax has been removed from the cloth.

The cloth is then rinsed several times in boiling water to remove excess dye and wax.
It is then hung to dry.

o

When it was question time, i was praying so hard " Please please DON'T ASK me any questions!!!"

hahaha...but then they asked me a few easy questions...and then FINALLY...It's over!

The reason behind this topic selection was because i wanted to present something that the locals are not familiar with...and something that is unique in our country...as so i came out with the idea of presenting Batik! I think the tutor liked it, at the end of our tutorial, she came and said that it was an interesting presentation *joy!!!*

It wasn't that bad after all, although i was very nervous, but i memorised everything that i wanted to say, and was just trying my best not to forget any lines.

There was once that i forgot to mention something and i skipped a point, i was like "brrrrrr...sorry..."<--clumsily... and went back to the point that i was suppose to say...- Everybody was laughing, including my tutor!

Embarrassing i know...

For the whole presentation, i was like forcing myself to look at the audience in the eye...you know...maintaining eye contact...oh my god...it was really hard!!!! SERIOUSLY! i didn't know where to look...and i didn't want to look like i was memorising my lines (with rolling eyes and silly gestures that say "Yea...this chick is trying butt hard in memorising her next sentence!").

DAMN...

But then i am glad that it is finally over...lets just hope that i did well!

Well...i hope you guys learned something from this presentation, cause i know i did, because to be frank, i was not familiar with batik at all until i did the research on it!

So, hope you guys enjoyed it.....

Malaysia!!!

Today just made me miss home even more! Malaysian student in South Australia actually organised a few events to celebrate the upcoming Merdeka Day.
And today I went to their food festival in my university, I was literally…SHOCKED!
SATAY!!!!
BUBU-CHA CHA!!!
LAKSA!!!
NASI LEMAK!!!
CHAR KOAY TEOW!!!
MAMAK CURRY CHICKEN!!!
ROTI CANAI!!!
AND A LOT MOREE!!!!

I never felt so much at home before until today…the smell of home…and literally I mean the SMELL!! And all the wonderful taste of home!

You guys have no idea how much I misses home…and how badly I wanted to go back…

I saw a blog yesterday that writes about political stuff in Malaysia, http://malaysia-today.net/blog2006/holds.php?itemid=7435, here is the link if you are interested in reading it.
Erm…the feeling after reading that post was…heartache? I am not a news lover, and definitely don’t really care about the political issues in our country, but for the first time, I actually took some time, sat down quietly and read it…

To be honest, I love Malaysia! It is my home, and I want to go back to my home country. It is just the treatment we Chinese get that is bothering me, and not to forget how the government runs the country. It is no secret; they run it with discrimination and prejudice against us. Why? We are all Malaysians, aren’t we?

While walking down to the basement for my laundry, I actually asked myself “what do I like about Australia?”, “what are the things that Australia have and Malaysia don’t?”
Answer is simple, I like nothing about Australia, besides the weather, and the cute koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, penguins, #$$^ %&^$^&*(……..

Okay okay…that is not the point…

My point is…I like they way how they run their country, they have really good welfare for their citizens, no matter if its education, medical, or to the free busses they provide for the use of its residents…everything is so well organised…

I know that we can do better…but it’s hard…right? Really hard…because nobody listens to the Chinese…we are only second class citizens………….
